The endgame reward for PvE is knowing you had fun. In my opinion, that's the only reward one should care about. I shudder at the thought someone would play through the game just to get phat loot or something.

When in Dungeon Siege you get showered with elite items, when you finish the game. In Guild Wars I really never feel the need to finish it.

I think its excelent that there is no focus on completing the storyline with some amazing end-game reward.
It makes me feel ill when people say "I've beaten the game 3 times" or whatever.. You cant "beat" Guildwars, rushing through the main quests just to finish the last quest and see the last video sequence is in NO WAY completing even a fraction of Guildwars. Giving a reward to such a person would be an insult to the quality of this game. It would be like saying ANET saying: "there is no depth to this game after you have completed it, dont bother doing the side quests, or the bonus's, dont bother joining a guild! there is no point in exploring everywhere and capping all the skills for titles, ranks and ratings dont mean much so dont bother with pvp... you've BEATEN the game, what more do you want?.. go play something else now" I've been playing for nearly 15 months now, I have a big guild and a good alliance, ive only got 3pve characters and dont have any FOW armor, my reward is coming on-line, being greeted by my friends and spending many hours having fun doing whatever takes our fancy! Helping characters with missions, or bonus, exploration or farming, gvg, or ha.. or FoW, UW or Fort Aspen and Dragons Throat. To be able to log into Guildwars and say, "lets goto the Forge Master at Fissure to get a peice of armor" and within 10 minutes you've got a full team of competant players and know your gona have a fun time!.. THAT is the reward of Guildwars, not some fancy armor set or item that you can sell for gold just for rushing through the game with henchies! |

Well, IMO there is no "end-game" for PvE. With a new chapter coming out every 6 months the "adventure" keeps moving along. So, rewarding the player for completing the adventure at hand is already there; there's just no ending to it as the characters will get into more "mischief" every 6 months.
PvP was the original idea for the end game, but as O'Brien stated back in Feb they realized not everyone wanted to PvP and would prefer to continue on with the PvE aspect of the game. It realy comes down to what you are looking for though. Keeping in mind, when O'Brien said they found people would rather stick with the PvE game, Factions was almost done, so we have two games out now with the original design in place; that being PvP is what you do when you finish the story. Of course the orignal design was also that of all players finish the PvE first; but Anet later added PvP only characters. So Nightfall and future chapters will probably have deeper play that rewards the PvEers. I think the missing super artifacts does give cause for lack luster rewards though. Such items could be made as rewards; for example a sword with a +100% dmg vs a certain type of foe. As long as the bonus isn't against "human" players then the PvP balance is maintained but it could be against dragons, wardens or whatever. Just a thought. |

And since when do you have to do pve first? There is nothing that says "you can't do ANY pvp untill you beat pve". If you have never played before, you could just as easily start off with pvp as you could with pve. It might be really hard and take a while since you will have to use the premade builds at first, but you CAN play pvp first and get really good at that before you ever even make a pve character. Also, how is having fun in pve a "waste of time"? If its fun, its not wasting time... And raid content? Isn't that something wow has or something? GW is meant to be ORIGINAL (at least as much as possible), not copy some other game. Unless a raid is like a massive pvp where you can go to ascalon or something and everything is the same as now, exept players can attack each other, then I don't think most people would want a "raid" thing. More pve grind in nightfall? Well of course there is gonna be new greens, but if you don't want them, you don't have to "grind" for them. You could just play through the game normally and have fun. |

No offence, but the armor idea is pretty dum. Armor would have hardly any value anymore. There should always be a challenge in getting armor. |

simple answer, the reward are the green weapons/protector titles, finish it in hard mode u get guardian titles...finish all 3 campaigns in hard mode u get legendary guardian title(so jealous of that title)
if there not a reward to you then, i dont know what to say(wich is a first) |

You get to try another primary and combo and see if you can get through the game with that too.

don't forget: out of date and overpriced graphic cards for winning monthly gvg tournaments.
not that it really matters though. |
